About Summit…
At Summit AP, we believe every young person has the ability to achieve more than they think possible. Our role is to help them uncover that potential.
We are a specialist Alternative Provision based in the North East, working with secondary-aged students who need additional support to re-engage with education. What makes us different is our combination of high expectations, small cohorts, and life-changing experiences that challenge students to grow both academically and personally.
With places limited to just eight students per group, we ensure every learner is seen, valued, and supported.
Summit is ran by a team of experienced Pastoral and Behavioural Leaders from Secondary Education. Our mission is to redefine the quality of Alternative Provision - we aim to be sector leading in quality, provision and outcomes.
Transport - Summit has you covered...
At Summit AP, transport is included with every placement — so commissioning schools and local authorities can rest assured that travel is fully taken care of.
Every student receives door-to-door transport, with daily pick-up and drop-off from their registered home address. Journeys are completed in Summit AP’s own minibuses, driven by fully qualified and DBS-cleared members of our team.
All transport connected to the programme is provided, whether it’s expeditions to the Lake District, climbing at Sunderland Wall, or mountain biking at Hamsterley Forest.
Students are also transported safely to and from their work experience placements, where Summit staff remain on-site and available throughout the day to ensure every young person feels supported, secure, and able to engage fully in meaningful, real-world learning experiences.
We hope this takes some of the additional stress away - an ‘all-inclusive’ commission.
Our ethos is simple:
High Expectations. Real-life Experiences. Lasting Change.
Summit AP isn’t just a place to catch up on learning. It’s a place where young people develop the skills, confidence, and determination to shape their future. Whether returning to their home school or moving forward into further education, training, or employment, our students leave with a renewed sense of belief.
They can. They will.
Our team works closely with schools, families, and local authorities to deliver programmes that blend:
Personalised academic intervention – with nationally recognised NCFE qualifications in English, Mathematics, Digital Literacy, Interpersonal Skills and Sport (longer-term placements).
Real-world opportunities – including work placements with trusted employers, designed to build responsibility, teamwork, and employability.
Adventure and resilience-building – through Outdoor & Adventurous Education, culminating in unforgettable experiences like a team expedition to the Lake District.
Wellbeing and safeguarding at the core – with a dedicated framework supported by a leading Safeguarding Consultancy Service, ensuring the very highest standards of care, safety, and staff expertise.
